Coolness in Melbourne
Personally I thought the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony was pretty cool, although I never realised Victorians were such crazy pyromaniacs. That said, dudes on skates with flamethrower backpacks made even Delta Goodrem bearable.
Also, the ceremony had the best performance of the Aussie national anthem I have ever seen. Watching a giant circle of colourful costumes perform the anthem in sign language was so very very cool, and not just because it was an awesome way to be inclusive of people with disabilites.
However, Channel Nine’s cheap excuse for a telecast was a joke. Ads? During the athletes’ march? For crying out loud.
Its amazing what greed does. The only reason for more ads is more money. Its quite sad that they chose the athletes march to insert and ad break. Hopefully it was not during a country with 2 or 3 compeditors. I was watching the CG the other night and one of the swimming events was cut to an ad before the swimmers finished.. all that mattered was that Australian came first.
