Pismo on the operating table

Friday 9 June 2006 at 10:45 am

I’ve become sick of the sluggish behaviour of my laptop ever since installing Tiger, but didn’t really want to splurge on new hardware (turns out the MacBooks are toasty). So this week I finally caved in and spent money to keep my venerable old PowerBook Pismo running, with a new 512Mb stick of RAM. Actually, I should really have done this some time ago — PC133 SODIMMs have been hovering around their current prices for months.

The PowerBook Pismo, laid bare for all to see

After some minor open-heart surgery on the poor little black monster, it now has a respectable amount of memory! There’s life in that old G3 yet …

More memory for me!

A short lesson in pricing strategy

Wednesday 31 May 2006 at 9:25 pm

Business strategy lesson number 478: when you start an auction on eBay, check who else is selling the same thing. If you set a ‘buy it now’ price that severely undercuts the competition, don’t be surprised when your item sells less than two hours after putting up the listing!

Oh well, I did want to get rid of that stick of RAM … and now I have!
